Caterpillar Project
The goal of this project was to help redesign Caterpillar's fleet management application. The hope is to create a more effective way for construction and management to schedule and request machinery for projects.
As a part of the company’s World Usability Day competition. Previously an Excel spreadsheet was used, which created a lot of mistakes and inefficient time management. My team worked to create a better system for the users, with a preset design system.
Golden Thread
1. User logs into the website
2. User goes to request unit
3. User views what units their management have
4. User sees that their unit is available and submits a request
5. User fills out the form on the software
6. Construction manager receives the request
7. User receives approval for their equipment
8. Every few days the user updates how long the equipment is being used for and is needed
9. User is approaching the deadline and returns the asset.
10. User is finished with the equipment so it goes back into the construction managers asset pool
